Is it possible to test positive for THC if you have been exposed to "second hand" smoke?

No. The urine concentrations of THC above the sensitivity cut off level of the test are not possible with second hand smoke.

How long do drugs stay in your system?

Each drug is cleared by the body at different rates. Any or all of the following contribute to the length of detection: the amount of drug taken, how frequently the person takes the drug, how the drug was taken (smoked, snorted or injected), the metabolic rate of the user, fluid intake and age of the user. See chart below for general guideline.

We did our first test and some of the lines were very light. What does that mean?

Any visible line means that the test is negative.

What does THC stand for?

THC is the main active chemical compound in cannabis. The full name is Tetrahydrocannabinol.

What are some signs that my teen may be using drugs or alcohol?

Change in sleeping patterns, Locked doors, Bloodshot eyes, Change in friends or peer group, Slurred or agitated speech, Change in clothing, appearance, Changes in grades, Unusual smell on clothing or breath, Complaints from teachers, Emotional instability, Missing school, Hyperactive or hyper-aggressive, Furtive or secretive behavior, Depressed.

Is marijuana as bad as smoking cigarettes?

Marijuana actually contains many of the same cancer causing chemicals found in tobacco. Puff for puff, smoking marijuana may increase the risk of cancer more than smoking tobacco.

If you smoke pot regularly, you may experience the same breathing problems as those who smoke cigarettes. Wheezing, coughing etc.
